Snoqualmie to Leavenworth via Stevens Pass
A wet day out of Snoqualmie, more climbing and a hitch into a very busy town.

The first day out of Snoqualmie was wet. The next day was more climbing, and the one after that took me out at Stevens Pass. I was still doing twenties and thirties.
I walked with a physician for about an hour and we talked about nutrition. I wrote that it was nice being able to hold my ground in that conversation. I was listening to audiobooks too, nearly getting through a nineteen-hour book in three days.
Quoted lines are from my 2021 logs, verbatim.

At Stevens Pass, a section hiker was driving a van. I put my thumb out and yelled “Leavenworth”. She stopped and gave me a ride.
“Leavenworth is like Disneyland”. It was busy and kind of funky. I had another carry to sort out before Stehekin and the border.

The food, then and now
Leavenworth had vegan brats, and there’s a photo of the vegan sausage sandwiches I ate that day. I believe I shopped at a Safeway. Before leaving town I mailed a box ahead to myself in Stehekin.
A hiker reported TVP and nutritional yeast at Dan’s Food Market in August 2023. For a meal now, Yodelin links to its Leavenworth ordering menu, which marks Rain Shadow Broth Soup and baked potatoes vegan. Its Pacific Crest Trail veggie burger has a vegan patty, but the standard order includes cheese and aioli on brioche. Ask about the whole sandwich before ordering. Checked October 8, 2026.
