Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the store pays me a commission. You pay the same price you would anyway.

How you can tell

Every affiliate link has a small Paid link label right after it, and any page that has one says so at the top. The links are also tagged rel="sponsored", which tells search engines they're paid.

What a commission doesn’t change

The town guides, the resupply table and the leg pages come from my own 2021 receipts, photos and FarOut comments, plus dated hiker reports and store listings. A store having an affiliate program doesn’t move it up a list, and a store without one doesn’t drop off. When I recommend gear or food, it’s something I used on the trail or something the evidence on that page backs up, and I say which.

If a brand sends me a product to try, the review says so near the top, and a free product gets the same honest write-up as one I paid for.

I work through affiliate networks and directly with some brands. This page will list the programs as they go live on the site.
