Vasquez Rocks before the fire-closure road walk, then Hikertown and the aqueduct in daytime heat.

Out of Acton, I went through Vasquez Rocks and Agua Dulce, then a fire-closure road walk. Day 30 came to 31.5 miles on Strava. The next day I described it in a message as a 32-mile day.
I was getting up early, but the aqueduct wasn’t a night walk for me. I went through Hikertown and walked it in the daytime heat. There was a cooler of iced drinks near Hikertown that day.

By Tehachapi I was saying I was finally coming into good form. I’d been getting up at four and wanted to get out of the desert. I also wrote that I was basically the only one so far who hadn’t had blisters.
I hitched into town from Tehachapi Willow Springs Road around mile 558.5. There was a town break before the push to Kennedy Meadows, and a resupply to sort out before leaving again.

The Tehachapi resupply had bars spread across a table, including Clif and Lenny & Larry’s. Bars were a big part of what I carried, alongside the meals I mixed and cooked. The iced drinks near Hikertown were there on the aqueduct day.
For a meal now, hikers reported vegan chili at Kelcy’s in May 2024. Its current menu lists vegan chili and a hummus-and-vegetable wrap. Choose vegan cheese on the chili. Save Mart still lists its Tehachapi store; hikers reported it as a full grocery resupply in May 2024. Checked October 8, 2026.
