Back in the forest around Mount Hood, then the Eagle Creek alternate and the bridge into Washington.

After the night off trail, I got a ride past the Lionshead Fire closure to Timothy Lake. On day 108 I was walking again in the Mount Hood Wilderness.
“Speed goat time. This section of trail is awesome real forest.” The next day took me through Timberline and Ramona Falls.
Quoted lines are from my 2021 logs, verbatim.

I took the Eagle Creek alternate toward Cascade Locks. The Indian Springs connection had some very steep pitches, but was over quickly. I left a comment saying the waterfall tunnel was busy with day hikers and recommending going early.
On August 17 I crossed the Bridge of the Gods into Washington. I had skipped Trail Days because I didn’t want to be in that big hiker bubble. There was another state to walk.
My route here was in 2021. For a trip now, check the PCTA closure map. As of October 8, 2026, it lists a closure on the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail and Trail 400 between Eagle Creek and Cascade Locks.

Timberline was on my route, but I don’t remember what I ate there. I don’t have a particular Cascade Locks meal to put here either.
Hikers reported vegan pizza with vegan mozzarella at Timberline’s Blue Ox Bar in August 2026. The bar’s current page says it is closed for the season, so check its opening dates before counting on it. Checked October 8, 2026.
